Unit Vector

Unit Vector

A unit vector is a vector of magnitude 1 .

Example :

The vector P Q has initial point at P ( 1 , 1 ) and terminal point at Q ( 1.6 , 1.8 ) .

| P Q | = ( 1.6 1 ) 2 + ( 1.8 1 ) 2 = 0.6 2 + 0.8 2 = 0.36 + 0.64 = 1 = 1

The magnitude of P Q is 1 . So, P Q is a unit vector.
